We engaged the services of Giles Patterson as our Business Coach in November 2002. As owner operators of a small 7 year old company, my husband and 1 found that we were successful to a point. We were intrinsically involved with the day to day processes of the businesses and this was our main frustration -'how to climb out from underneath". We recognised that we needed to move beyond that point to achieve greater success and actually start working "on the business" rather than "in the business"- Our goal was to achieve a business that didn't need us actively participating in the day to day processes in order to operate profitably. Giles came on board offering a thorough and professional service. He systematically interrogated our processes and helped us to see where we were able to initiate improvement. His objective, unemotional approach and clear vision has enabled us to see through the 'clutter' of the daily stresses that we faced. Giles has been a tough taskmaster, Often I'm sure we frustrated him enormously, however he stuck to it and cajoled us through to what I believe is now a new pathway to success. We have systems in place and fully documented where once there was chaos. All steps in the process, and all key members of our team are accountable via the processes now in place. We are able to see our future as an achievable goal - the steps are in place. While we have ceased our weekly meetings with Giles we have agreed to keep him close by as we intend to grow even further and Giles is very much a part of that plan.
